What Excites Me!

My Favorite Things…

Would you like to get to know me a little better? I do think that a person's preferences and sticking points say a lot about them and a lot about their potential for and focus of pleasure.

Especially when planning to spend larger chunks of time together, it’s useful to compare notes on the things that make a day really delicious for both of us. Here are some of the things that have made my days delicious!

Video game

Zork, Mega Man and any Tetris clone

Why- I don’t play a lot of video games, but I spent a fond summer playing Mega Man with my brother in high school and another summer exploring the Zork franchise with my fellow nerdy partner! Tetris, just because it’s simply a mindless challenge!

Superhero

Does Black Widow count as a super here?

Why- I honestly am lukewarm on superheroes for the most part because I think they gloss over the true cost of battle and dehumanize everyone involved in it in the process… and give Americans an even worse God-complex than usual.

But… I LOVE non-superheroes like Legends of Tomorrow or anti-heroes like the Doom Patrol or the criminals from Leverage. The thought put into the characters, the growth they experience over time and the resulting strength of their relationships with each other feels so much more real, accurate and empowering than the typical superhero.

I think Black Widow is a strong, powerful character and the fact that she faces her own family dysfunction and walks away stronger is exactly the kind of superhero I respect.

(OK, I wrote all that and then I saw the latest SpiderMan and I am adding him/them to my favorite superhero list!)

Sci-Fi TV show

At the moment: The Expanse

Why- I know I’m kind of late to the party on this one, but I started binging it in December of 2021 while I was sick and caught all the way up in less than a week! I LOVE these characters, flawed as they may be. I especially love Amos and how he learns to trust others’ judgment over time.

Date to go on

I love going on walks and cooking homemade meals together. Snuggling all warm and cozy on the couch with Netflix projected on the wall. Or going to a show with sushi or Thai food on the town. I love Improv nights, or dinner and a burlesque show at The Triple Door! Or tango, tapas and cocktails all dressed up and showing ourselves off. Maybe even a walk in the woods to a beautiful spring, or through a botanical garden with a homemade picnic on hand. Or a weekend on one of the San Juan Islands… or a few days in Forks to visit the temperate Ho rain forest.

Why-So many fun options! I love to plan fun things to do with my day, and then I love to be spontaneous and completely throw a plan out the window when it suits!

Scent/perfume

Amber or Jasmine or Ylang Ylang…

Why-I like to be surrounded by slightly flowery scents, especially things that remind me of Hawaii, but just a touch. And the warming scent of amber feels like such a good compliment to my body, I feel extra feminine just wearing it.

Way to cheer myself up

Watch or listen to some stand-up comedy.

Why-Comedy, at least good comedy, tends to turn your beliefs on their heads at some point, and I enjoy that. It tends to cheer me up because finding new ways of looking at the world requires opening my mind a bit. And comedy works partly on surprise, so I am being surprised often if it’s a clever show. Plus laughing generates endorphins, so… it’s like injecting natural chemical happiness! :)

Flowers

Short answer, anything with a lovely scent.

Why-Long answer: Lilies, jasmine, ylang ylang… but my favorite to find locally in the wild is the Winter Daphne. It’s a bush that grows around this city, blooms in January-March and has a super intense sweet fragrance AND its tiny little petals SPARKLE in the sunshine. What better way to be greeted on a cold winter walk in January than a sparkling cluster of mini-petals and something sweet that makes a want to pause and breathe deep!

Wine

Moscato, or Prosecco.

Why-Sweet, bubbly… or at least bubbly…

…what’s not to like? (Except a hangover if I forget to hydrate!)

Mixed drink

I do like cocktails, especially if they are flavorful and not full of hangovers. The amaretto/orange juice combination is lovely, and a dark and stormy tastes delicious… or a gin and tonic with lime.

Why-Simple is usually best, but the chocolate decadence on that Celebrity cruise ship was worth the extra ingredients!

Meal/type of food

Thai, or sushi, or really healthy stuff with lots of avocados and tasty veggies that fuel my badass body.

Why- I’ve found over the years that I enjoy life and dance (and sex) more when my body gets certain things. Really good food has been a cornerstone of my life for a long time, and I’m actually a pretty good cook (or sous chef) and have lots of surprising recipes in my kitchen.

Place to travel

Manhattan, and London and Kauai.

Why-Shows and live theater! And beautiful land, ocean, people, food and culture with adventuring, snorkeling, greenery and fragrant flowers. And affordable AirBnb’s… awww…

Sweet treat/dessert

Ora Cacao ceremonial chocolate

Why-It’s fair trade, delicious with monk fruit, a potent plant and the sweet gratitude ceremony that they offer with it always brightens my day.

Gift Card

Nordstrom

Why-There are not many places I can shop for my 36” inseam body, and as much as I like to have nice clothes, if I don’t feel like a “fuck yeah” in clothes, then I just won’t wear them.

Nordstrom carries enough dresses and shoes that I really, really love that I can spend there anytime and ALWAYS be happy with the results.

Runner up favorite gift card: BellaFleur Lingerie

Why? Because wearing beautiful, perfectly fitted well-made European lingerie underneath just about any outfit makes me feel like a million bucks, and I like their fabrics SO much!

Salon

Habitude

Why? Aveda products, gorgeous atmosphere and talented estheticians makes for a happy, shiny girl. :D

Show

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, a musical.

Why- It’s funny and innovative, the music is amazing and the ending made me chuckle and has stuck with me for years!

How I like my coffee

Trick question! I don’t like coffee. Almost ever, though the white chocolate latte from Vivace Roastaria used to be a favorite treat! I’m a tea or hot water and lemon girl most of the time. Usually Kava tea or a good chai, though sometimes Good Earth or Earl Grey is my pleasure in the morning.

How I like to be touched

Softly at first, sensually, with playful intent and openness. Then, once my body opens up, all kinds of variety, please!

Sex Position

There is a charcoal drawing in my place that is a perfect picture of my favorite position. I wonder if you’ll recognize it on your way out? ;)
